As Waypoint navigates the new landscape created by COVID-19, they are faced with their fair share of challenges, both internally as an organization as well as externally, as they look to see how best they can help the community they serve. With a mission to help those through Homeless & Housing Services, Domestic Violence Victim Services, and high quality, affordable child care, the organization is making a pivot as they look for ways to help those who might be quarantined with an abuser, those currently looking for affordable housing, or those who might be staying within a shelter. But after serving the community for over 125 years, they're not slowing down.
While the process might look a bit different, Waypoint is still open and the team is available to help those in need. From virtual support groups and meetings, to phone calls, to increased sanitation measures, they're constantly brainstorming ways to continue serving those in the community. And while they have to be a bit more creative with how they can help, they're celebrating the fact that they are still open and remaining inspired.
How to Help
But as a community, how can we help those at Waypoint and the people they provide services for? While currently not accepting in-kind donations due to safety issues, any monetary donation is greatly appreciated. Waypoint believes that all people deserve a home, a healthy relationship, and access to quality child care. Even the smallest of donations means that you are part of the solution to end homelessness, domestic violence, and poverty in our community. Not able to donate?
